Romelu Lukaku has revealed that his amazing memory as a child helped him to become the player he is today. The striker returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer in a deal worth £97.5million as a result of him becoming one of the world’s best strikers. Although he has many noticeable attributes, he believes his memory helped him to hone in on his trade.
Romelu Lukaku said : “I didn’t have my parents filming my games and stuff, but I could visualise them. After the game, I could basically detail how it happened. If my parents hadn’t been there to watch, I would tell my dad what happened, literally from the first to the last minute, in great detail. Sometimes if scouts had been at the game, they would call my dad and he would say to them, ‘This is what Rom said happened in the game’. And they would be like, ‘Yeah, that’s really what happened. Sometimes, if I shoot and miss, I know perfectly where I made the mistake in my steps, my shooting, my movement, or whatever the case may be. I just know because it’s like repetition, repetition, repetition – at some point, it just becomes a natural thing, so that, football-wise, I can remember most things that happen in a game.”
News even emerged last week that Lukaku can speak eight languages, something that emphasises how impressive his memory really is.
