Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe considers Aston Villa “home” and says there is unfinished business in the Premier League. The on-loan centre-back is currently in his third loan spell at Villa Park having joined the club on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window. He has so far made seven appearances for Dean Smith’s side and there is speculation that Tuanzebe is considering a permanent move away from Old Trafford. And in a telling interview with the club’s official website, he has opened up on life inside the Villa dressing room.
Axel Tuanzebe said: “It’s home for me here. You know it’s not like I’m in a foreign dressing room. I know the lads really well, I know the manager really well. I understand our playing style very well it’s just kind of continuing where we left off. You know, helping the team come back to the Premier League and still have some unfinished business in the Premier League so it’s good to be back.”
Villa have endured an average start to the Premier League season having won just three of their opening eight games amid hopes they can challenge for a place in Europe this season. Smith’s side are still gelling after a busy summer of recruitment which saw them sign Leon Bailey, Emi Buendia, Danny Ings and Tuanzebe. The defender admits it has not been smooth sailing so far but is adamant they will come good.
Axel Tuanzebe said: “Yeah, I think it’s been solid. It’s been solid. A few shaky results. The Watford result, obviously the Wolves result, but I think apart from that, the way we want to be playing, and where we want to come, six months or so, we’re definitely headed in the right direction. The signings we’ve made over the summer I think are very top players and they can only add to the team, so I think it’s a very exciting campaign for us.”
