Everton youngster Lewis Dobbin has taken to social media after making his Premier League debut in his side’s win over Norwich City on Saturday. A first half penalty from Andros Townsend followed by a strike in the second half from Abdoulaye Doucoure secured all three points for the Blues at Goodison Park. But with minutes to go in the match, Blues boss Rafa Benitez gave a Premier League debut to 18-year-old Dobbin as he replaced Alex Iwobi. Taking to Twitter on Saturday night,
Lewis Dobbin wrote: “Wow. Truly blessed to have my premier league debut, a moment I’ve dreamt of since I started playing football. A great result and atmosphere and can’t thank the fans enough for the support. This is just the start.”
The Blues youngster then reacted to a clip on social media showing him coming off the bench with another message for Everton supporters on Sunday evening.
Lewis Dobbin wrote: “Even better than how I dreamt it.”
Speaking on Dobbin’s debut,
Rafa Benitez said: “I am happy to see Anthony Gordon around, because he’s a young player, but also Dobbin. He’s someone that, when he’s training with us, he shows the desire and commitment. These players have to be seen. Sometimes you have a player in a training session and you don’t appreciate anything, maybe he has nothing sometimes or maybe he doesn’t have the desire. Dobbin is someone that you notice he’s there when he’s training.”
