Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Bernardo Silva following an excellent performance as Manchester City ran out 5-0 winners at home to Arsenal on Saturday. Bernardo has featured in both of City’s 5-0 victories this season, providing the spark of creativity City lacked in their dismal 1-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur in their opening game of the Premier League season. The legendary Catalan manager has admitted that Bernardo has approached him to request a move away from City this summer, owing to several reasons, including a desire to move closer to his native Portugal.
Pep Guardiola said: “Bernardo in his mind is happy – happy in his life and what a player. The year we won the Premier League with 98 points, he was the best player in the Premier League. All I want is his happiness. He can play in different positions. He always plays good, and today he played exceptionally again.”
The wantaway midfielder was instrumental as City demolished Arsenal on Saturday, delivering the sumptuous cross that led to Ferran Torres’ second goal of the affair.
