Wolverhampton Wanderers could be in for a big surprise on Sunday when they host Manchester United at Molineux. United have confirmed the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford subject to one or two details. His Portugal colleague and new teammate Bruno Fernandes reacted to the news on Twitter, writing
Bruno Fernandes wrote: “Agent Bruno? Welcome back home, Cristiano.”
Wolves head coach Bruno Lage was quizzed about the return of the Portuguese star to United and the Premier League during his own press conference.
Bruno Lage said: “The Premier League is about top players and Cristiano Ronaldo is top of the top, so it’s very good for the league and for him to return. He already has his name on this competition but he can improve it. In football you cannot look at the age of the player, you can see the performance of the player. He’s a top player and he will do good where he goes.”
Wolves-linked super-agent Jorge Mendes represents Ronaldo, but Lage insisted there had never been any chance of him coming to Molineux.
Bruno Lage added: “We don’t have that kind of chance! It’s very hard to reach that kind of player. I met him once at a Portuguese event, but I don’t have a chance to know him better.”
