Romelu Lukaku has revealed that Didier Drogba helped answer questions the Belgian had about Chelsea before he completed a £97million move from Inter Milan.
Romelu Lukaku said: “Our relationship means the world to me. It’s not like we talk once a month, I talk to the guy every few days. We have a group chat so we’re constantly communicating and I’ve been on the phone with him a bit more in the past two weeks.”
Their bond is obviously strengthened by their mutual love for Chelsea, but because Lukaku has been away from Stamford Bridge for so long, he had plenty of questions to ask Drogba – who is still very well connected within the club – about the latest ongoings in west London, and the frontman reassured him that he was making the right decision.
Romelu Lukaku added: “I had a lot of questions to ask and he still knows a lot of people here so he really prepared me well with the last details. Now I just need to get to know the players and the manager a bit better and just be available as quickly as possible for the team.”
Lukaku could be handed his second debut against Arsenal on Sunday as Thomas Tuchel’s side aim to make it two out of two in the Premier League. The Chelsea legend took to social media to express his delight at the club re-signing his former teammate last week when he simply tweeted: “He’s coming home.” Now that the signing is official, Lukaku has opened up on the pair’s relationship, and has confirmed that they regularly communicate in their spare time.
