Jack Grealish has revealed he has already discussed where he will play for Manchester City with Pep Guardiola. City confirmed the signing of Grealish from Aston Villa on Thursday evening on a six-year deal. The move has seen the Blues smash the British transfer record by splashing out £100m to sign the 25-year-old playmaker, who will inherit Sergio Aguero’s number 10 shirt at the Etihad. Grealish can’t wait to work alongside Guardiola and has already discussed positions with his new manager.
Jack Grealish said: “When I came here this morning I had a long chat [with Guardiola] about positions and stuff like that, all football. It was such a positive chat and shows why I want to play under him. I have heard nothing but good words about him from the lads at England. I just can’t wait to get started really.”
When asked what Grealish himself sees as his best position, the England international was open to playing wherever is asked of him.
Jack Grealish said: “It is a difficult one. People always ask me this and I prefer other people to answer it for me. I just love being on the pitch, just playing. The way this team is set up to play suits me down to a tee, the way the manager likes to play suits me. I have spoke to the manager already about positions and personally I think I could play as a number eight, if the manager plays a 10, either wing or even as a false nine like you have seen Kevin or Phil do last season. Raz has done it as well. I feel like I can play in a lot of positions and one thing I can say is when I do get on the pitch now I will give it my all wherever I am playing.”
