New Aston Villa signing Leon Bailey believes that famous Manchester United fan Usain Bolt will now support his new club as well. Exciting winger Bailey was confirmed as an Aston Villa player following a £30m move from Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, with the Midlands club wasting no time in replacing Manchester City bound Jack Grealish. The 23 year old believes that his fellow Jamaican Bolt will now be following Villa as a result, while also supporting United. The world’s fastest man is an avid United supporter and attended several matches before the pandemic, even parading the Olympic gold medals he won at the London 2012 Olympics around Old Trafford. But Bailey is adamant that his compatriot will also now become a Villa fan.
Leon Bailey said: “Anywhere I go he [Bolt] is going to be a fan so of course right now, he is a Villa fan. I don’t need to make him, he automatically becomes a fan of the club. I have known him for a long time. He is a good friend of mine and an inspiration. I am sure he will want to come and see Villa against Manchester United.”
Speaking in 2017, Bolt revealed that it watching former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy that made him a United supporter.
Usain Bolt said: “Ruud was the one who made me start supporting Manchester United. Just watching him play, a striker at the level he was, playing for United. It was like ‘this guy is one of the best’, you know what I mean, and, for me, he is why I started watching Manchester United. I never turned back and I’ve just seen great players after great players coming to United and doing a great job.”
