Wolverhampton Wanderers have loaned out highly-rated forward Theo Corbeanu to Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls, who will ply their trade in League One this season, have beaten off competition for Canada international Corbeanu on a year-long loan. The 19-year-old was the stand-out player for Wolves’ under-23s last season and earned a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first team squad during the second half of the campaign. Technical director Scott Sellars has overseen Corbeanu’s development at Wolves and planned to loan him out last January, but injuries in the first team squad prompted Nuno to block a transfer.
Wolves Technical director Scott Sellars said “Over his scholarship years with us it was a bit up and down, a bit inconsistent, but you’d always see glimpses of what he could be. He’s probably one, with the lockdown, who has come back and it’s had a positive effect on. He’s come back as a first year professional and I think he’s surprised everybody. He’s been excellent. From minute one of pre-season he’s probably been our best player. He’s a player that whenever he gets the ball he excites me, I think something is going to happen.”
