Axel Tuanzebe caught the eye for Manchester United amid talk of a possible return to Aston Villa. Tuanzebe is a popular figure among Villa fans after two previous loan spells with the club. United could send him out on loan again this season and Villa have been mentioned as a possible destination, along with Newcastle. The defender made 19 appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side last season but only four Premier League starts, three of which came in the final month of the campaign. Tuanzebe, who is out of contract next year with United holding the option of an extra season, turns 24 in November. Speaking to United’s website last month,
Axel Tuanzebe said: “Being 23 now, I want to be playing week in, week out. I’ve had a taste of it being at Villa, I enjoyed it. That’s something I wanted to replicate here. I haven’t had the run of games that I’ve hoped for, but, next season, I’ll definitely be playing football. When I was on loan, the pressure was obviously different. Not to say that Villa aren’t a big club, but you know, Man United are top of the top and the fans expect something. Even ourselves, we expect performances week in, week out, we expect wins week in, week out – no matter who the opponent is. You just need to understand that and take it from there really.”
