Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is going nowhere this summer. Amid talk of a return to Italy, the double European Champions’ agent has quashed talk of the 29-year-old bidding farewell to the Stamford Bridge faithful during the current transfer window.
Joao Santos said: “He has a two-year contract and everything is in the club’s hands. There’s the Clubs World Cup, there’s the European Super Cup. For a footballer these are important goals. But, the transfer market is always the transfer market and if a major club comes forward seriously with Chelsea, then we will evaluate. At the moment, Jorginho will play at Chelsea next season. I confirm it, these interests have arrived. Of course, at 29 he can do very well in all the top European clubs and many are interested in him.”
Santos’ comments about evaluating Jorginho ‘s future if a major club shows serious interest could hint at a major decision facing Chelsea in the next 12 months. If the Blues can’t tie the midfielder down to a new contract before the end of the 2021/22, they may have to consider selling the Italy next summer or risk losing him on a free.
