Kalvin Phillips has revealed that he has overcome a dislocated shoulder to be a part of England’s Euro 2020 squad. The Leeds United midfielder suffered the injury in the closing stages of Leeds’ 3-1 win over West Brom on the final day of the season, as he was forced off in clear pain after he went down following a stoppage-time challenge.
Kalvin Phillips said: “Obviously, it wasn’t a great injury,” he said in an England press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s friendly against Romania. Not a good way to end the season as well but, I dislocated my shoulder and obviously I was very fearful that I wouldn’t be involved in the camp and in the tournament. They are the first emotions that come to you as soon as you do it. I think obviously I’ve recovered well and my shoulder feels fine now so I’m just ready and raring to get going.”
Phillips was not part of the Three Lions squad that saw off Austria 1-0 on Wednesday night, but will be hoping to be involved in England’s final Euro 2020 warm-up match at the Riverside on Sunday evening.
