Moise Kean has explained why he wanted to join Paris Saint-Germain when the opportunity arose last October.
Moise Kean said “I’m here to learn. These guys are great, experienced players,” the Italy international told the Ligue 1 show. “I’m only young, so I’ll sit back and learn from them. Ligue 1 is a good championship. That’s why I wanted to come to PSG, to learn alongside top players and to try to help the team.”
Meanwhile, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised Kean following his return after suffering from COVID-19, with the striker available to face Lyon on Sunday night.
Mauricio Pochettino said “He’s a versatile player who can play all across the attack. He’s effective when he plays on the left, on the right, or through the middle.
While it remains to be seen whether Kean will turn out for Everton next season, the fact that he has showcased such versatility in France could offer him the possibility of a Blues future. The Italian had found first-team opportunities limited at Goodison Park with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison firmly-established as Carlo Ancelotti’s striking options in last season’s 4-4-2 formation. But with the arrival of James Rodriguez presenting a switch to 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1, Kean’s effective contributions outwide for PSG could see him emerge as an option for Everton in more ways than just as back-up to Calvert-Lewin upfront.
The Italian is currently on loan with the Ligue 1 giants and has enjoyed a memorable season in France, scoring 15 goals from just 27 appearances to date. Having failed to make such an impact at Everton after signing from Juventus, the 21-year-old’s future remains the subject of speculation with both his former club and PSG linked with permanent moves for the striker at the end of the season. And having got to play in attack alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at the Parc des Princes, Kean has elaborated on his decision to leave the Blues on loan in favour of the switch to France.
