Harry Kane is the world’s best No9, according to Fulham head coach Scott Parker as he prepares to face a Tottenham Hotspur attack that he considers among the Premier League’s best alongside leaders Manchester City. But he is confident that Fulham, who took a point from the reverse fixture and are on a five-game unbeaten run, have the attacking tools to get at Jose Mourinho’s team.

Scott Parker said: “We’re playing against probably the best 9 in the world in Harry Kane. He is incredible, the best number nine in the world. Then there’s Bale, Son [Heung-min] and players like [Lucas] Moura. It’s a front half team which is exquisite. Unbelievable players, unbelievable talent. Right there with the best in the league, Liverpool and Manchester City. We’ve done very well of late defensively but we’re going to be put to the test because of the quality we’re up against. It’s a test I’m relishing and the players are relishing as well.”

Spurs have lost five of their past seven games and look unconvincing at the back despite keeping a clean sheet against a desperately poor Burnley on Sunday.

Scott Parker added: “They’re a very good team but the way we play, on the front foot, attacking and trying to score goals, I’d like to think we can cause them problems as well. I hope that to be the case.”

Parker shared the pitch with Bale throughout his two seasons at White Hart Lane and described the Wales star, who has rediscovered some form in the past fortnight against welcoming opposition, as a special talent – particularly in the 2012-13 campaign when he scored 26 goals in all competitions.

Scott Parker said: “He was a match-winner, wasn’t he? That season he was scoring goals and winning matches. He was just a fantastic football player and the team revolved around him. He’s a special player. You don’t get many players who a team revolves around them. Certainly that year Gareth was that for us. When you needed a goal, he was available to pop up and win you games. He was fantastic that season.”
