Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has sent a message to fans after they rallied in support following the death of his father this week.

Several messages of condolences flooded in for the Reds shot stopper from around the footballing world.

Reds defender Virgil van Dijk posted a photo on Instagram of him embracing Alisson along with the touching message: “We are here for you brother.”

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard also took to Instagram, posting: “YNWA @ALISSONBECKER.”

Former Reds midfielder Lucas Leiva sent condolences to Brazilian compatriot Alisson and his brother.

Lucas tweeted: “Much strength in this difficult time!! @GoleiroMuriel and @Alissonbecker YNWA.”

Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea posted a photograph from his official Twitter account of him and Alisson embracing after a match. The picture was accompanied by an emotional message of support: “We are all with you.”

Alisson has broken his silence and responded to the messages by posting on social media.  In the post,

Alisson said “I would like to thank everyone for the messages and tributes to my beloved father! Our family feels loved by everyone! May God bless each one’s life.”

Alisson’s father was a huge influence on his decision to become a goalkeeper as a junior footballer. In 2018,

Alisson said “I have a family of goalkeepers. My father played for his work team, my mother played handball in school, and my grandfather played in amateur football. And after all this, came my brother playing and then I started to like it, too.”

Jose Becker’s body was reported to have been found around midnight in the city of Bage after a swimming incident. Mr Becker went missing on Wednesday afternoon after diving into the dam on his property near the town of Rincao do Inferno in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The 57-year-old was reported as missing at around 5pm local time on February 24. The Fire Department of Cacapava do Sul were called to the scene before news emerged out of the region later that evening that Mr Becker’s body had been located.
