Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has spoken of his delight after his side produced a ‘special’ performance to beat a ‘fabulous’ Manchester United on Wednesday night. Wilder admits United were a bit below their best during the midweek clash, but he believes his side still deserve huge credit for managing to beat such a fabulous team.
Chris Wilder said “I’ve talked about fine margins and big moments and we’ve taken them tonight,” Wilder said at full-time. “It was always going to need a special performance to get a result and maybe we caught them on a day when they were a bit below. They’re a fabulous team with a manager I have a lot of respect for. It’s a good feeling and maybe reward for sticking at it. “We have to play close to near perfect to get results and if you make mistakes, then you get punished. It’s a brutal league and you have to be at your best every week. And sometimes it’s difficult to do that. “Tonight we were good, we were brave in possession when we had to be and we created some little half-chances. You have to take those big moments and we took two, to give us a result.”
