West Ham moved into the top four on Tuesday evening with a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace that saw them record their sixth straight win of 2021. The scoreline did not do justice to The Hammers dominance with Michail Antonio having a rare off night in front of goal.  Tomas Soucek, however, was on top form. His two goals were predatory finishes, the first a late run and head into the box the second a stabbed finish from a Cresswell corner. Hammers manager David Moyes was very impressed with his Czech midfielder.

David Moyes said “He has been great for us. He can score and he showed that again tonight. He has done brilliantly since he came to the country, it was this time last year when he signed him, and to come in and hit the ground running in the Premier League is really difficult at any time. I can’t put him in a Steven Gerard mode but midfielders who can get into the box and score goals is a great thing and Tomas is that. He’s a wee bit old-fashioned in many ways but his attitude and commitment to the team is second to none. He is a joy to work with and for a boy to come from, the Czech Republic and do so well in a year is some achievement.”

West Ham are very much in the hunt for European football next season but Moyes in confident there is more to come from his side:

David Moyes said “I’ve sensed for a while that we’re getting better, we are an improvement team and we have not scratched the surface yet. We have so much more we can give and so much more than we can do,”

West Ham face Liverpool next, if they make it seven wins in a row the club really will feel anything is possible.
