QPR’s Les Ferdinand was head and shoulders above England rival Andy Cole in Rangers’ 2-1 triumph at Newcastle. Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan led the praise for Ferdinand, who scored one goal and made another for Bradley Allen.
Kevin Keegan said “I thought Ferdinand was superb. I don’t think I have ever seen a player win more headers in one game in my life. I am going to show the tape of the game to my back four. They played well and we deserved to be beaten. We got exactly what we deserved – nothing. I have no complaints.”
Gerry Francis said “There is no way it was a spot kick but thankfully justice was done at the end of the day. I took a major gamble with Ferdinand and thought I would get only 45 minutes out of him. Luckily for us, he went on for 90. Sometimes you have to take these sort of gambles.”
