Frank Lampard
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has secured a new role ahead of the upcoming World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Lampard, who has been making waves as the manager of Coventry City, will be part of a high-profile team of football pundits for a special show on Netflix. The program, which will air daily from 6 am starting June 10th, promises to deliver in-depth discussions on the tournament and major football talking points.
Doug King said: “I am sure he’s in reflective mode. I said to him ‘do not underestimate how difficult what you’ve just achieved is to do’. It’s a bit disappointing clubs are appointing three or four managers a season. We don’t want to be in those positions, that means something has gone a little bit astray.”
Lampard’s success with Coventry City, where he led the team back to the Premier League as Championship winners, has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and Fulham, who are considering him for managerial roles. However, Coventry’s chairman, Doug King, has expressed a strong desire to keep Lampard at the club, highlighting the significant achievement of their promotion.
Alan Shearer said: “The World Cup is as big as it gets, and bringing The Rest Is Football to Netflix during the tournament is a brilliant opportunity to get stuck into the football properly. There’ll be huge performances, big decisions, pressure moments and plenty for supporters to debate – exactly what we love talking about.”
Micah Richards said: “I’m absolutely buzzing for this. World Cup, Netflix, New York and The Rest Is Football on a massive stage – what more could you want? It’s going to have everything people love about the show: proper analysis, big opinions, dressing-room stories and, knowing us, plenty of laughs as well.”
Joining Lampard on the show will be an array of football personalities, including Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Micah Richards, and regular contributor Joe Cole. The lineup also features special guests such as Harry Maguire, Millie Bright, Patrick Vieira, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, and musician Niall Horan. This ensemble promises to offer diverse insights and engaging content for football fans worldwide.
The addition of Lampard to the Netflix show marks a new chapter in his career, allowing him to share his expertise and passion for the game on a global platform. As the World Cup approaches, fans can anticipate a comprehensive and entertaining coverage of the event, enriched by the perspectives of some of football’s most renowned figures.
