Burnley
Burnley’s Quilindschy Hartman, who topped the club’s assist charts from left back, is expected to leave the club following their relegation to the Championship. Despite his contributions, Hartman found himself in and out of Scott Parker’s lineup, and it appears increasingly unlikely that he will remain with Burnley next season.
Quilindschy Hartman said: “I don’t know that officially yet, but the plan is for me to leave. I just don’t know where I’m going yet. I’m not saying I necessarily want to leave England, but I am open to other countries.”
Hartman’s tenure at Burnley has been a mix of highs and lows. Making 23 appearances in league and cup competitions last season, the Dutch defender’s move to England hasn’t unfolded as he had hoped. He was excluded from Scott Parker’s matchday squads for a period before being gradually reintroduced. Hartman returned to the starting lineup in a goalless draw against Bournemouth in March and made five more appearances, but was dropped again for the final three matches as Lucas Pires reclaimed his spot.
Quilindschy Hartman said: “It might be a bit wrong to say that it isn’t the case when you’ve been relegated, that might not make any sense. But technically, it’s not a very high level. It’s just that the ball moves up and down so fast. It’s not that I enjoyed the matches, but that might also be due to the way we played, so maybe it would be different at another team.”
Hartman initially joined Burnley with aspirations of using the club as a stepping stone to a more prominent Premier League side. However, his recent comments suggest a less favorable view of English football, particularly regarding its technical level. As he contemplates his next move, Hartman remains open to opportunities beyond England, indicating a potential transfer to Spain or another country.
This situation highlights the challenges players face when transitioning to a new league and the importance of finding a team that aligns with their playing style. Hartman’s future remains uncertain, but his departure seems imminent as Burnley prepares for life in the Championship.
