Erling Haaland
Arsenal celebrated a historic moment by clinching the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years, following Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against Bournemouth. Erling Haaland’s dramatic equalizer in the fifth minute of added time at the Vitality Stadium could not prevent City from falling short in the title race, which concluded with Arsenal’s triumph.
Erling Haaland said: “Not the ending we hoped for, but we’ll use this feeling the right way next season. The whole club should use this as motivation now. We should be angry, we should feel a fire inside our belly because it’s not good enough. It’s gone two years now, it feels like forever. We’re going to do everything we can, everyone that will be here next season, to win the league.”
Erling Haaland added: “Everything’s relative; it was better than last season. I felt that we could still push a little bit more in the league but it’s over now. We win two trophies, which is important, but we want the Premier (League) as well.”
Pep Guardiola said: “[I need to] congratulate Arsenal, Mikel and the backroom staff, the fans for the Premier League which they deserved. I would love to have arrived in the last moment. Today the fatigue was there. Bournemouth had 12 days to prepare. The impact from the fresh players was not good enough. We fought a lot and we prepare next season. With the club, I always talk. But not now. The first thing you should understand, I have to talk with the chairman first. We will talk in the next few days.”
The match saw Junior Kroupi give Bournemouth an early lead, which City struggled to overturn until Haaland’s late intervention. Despite the equalizer, City could not find the decisive goal needed to extend the title race to the final day. Pep Guardiola’s comments highlighted the challenges his team faced, including fatigue and the impact of fresh players not meeting expectations.
Arsenal’s title victory marks a significant achievement for Mikel Arteta and his squad, who have shown remarkable consistency throughout the season. Meanwhile, Manchester City will look to regroup and come back stronger next season, as indicated by Haaland’s determination and Guardiola’s plans for future discussions with the club’s hierarchy.
