Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest are set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday in a pivotal Premier League clash. With the season nearing its end, Forest manager Vitor Pereira is focused on securing the club’s top-flight status. Despite a challenging season, Pereira’s leadership has instilled a renewed fighting spirit within the team, as they aim to take a significant step towards safety.
Vitor Pereira said: “When you start managing a team in the middle of a season, it is because something is missing. Maybe it’s not about the previous coaches, because they are top coaches and top managers. Most of the time, in my opinion, it is about the energy. We needed to recharge the energy of the team and tactically, I try my ideas. This is the most important for me, to connect everybody in the club. With the supporters, the team, the players, the staff, we are trying to create something where we are fighting together. This is the spirit we have.”
Vitor Pereira continued: “Of course, if you don’t have results it is more difficult. But after that, if you create a spirit, you can change a lot of things.”
Pereira’s arrival in February marked the club’s fourth managerial change of the season. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to foster unity and resilience among the players. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he has been nominated for the Premier League’s April Manager of the Month award for the second consecutive year. Despite the challenges, Pereira remains optimistic about the team’s prospects.
Vitor Pereira added: “It is maybe a coincidence but, you know, last season, April was my month. I won this (award) so maybe April is my lucky month! I don’t know. I don’t know if I deserve (it); believe me, I don’t know. But it’s not about me, it’s about this team and this group of players that have been fighting a lot and facing a lot of problems this season. We are in a position where we can finish the league in a way that they deserve and the supporters deserve.”
As Nottingham Forest sit on 39 points, the team is aware that this may not be sufficient for survival this season. With West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur closely trailing, Pereira emphasizes the need for a “special” tally to avoid relegation. The upcoming fixture against Chelsea presents an opportunity for Forest to solidify their position and edge closer to safety.
The match against Chelsea is not only crucial for Forest’s Premier League survival but also a testament to Pereira’s impact at the club. His ability to galvanize the squad and instill a winning mentality has been instrumental in their recent performances. As the season draws to a close, all eyes will be on Stamford Bridge as Nottingham Forest aim to secure a vital victory.
