Vitor Pereira
Nottingham Forest are gearing up for a pivotal Premier League encounter against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday. As they aim to extend their unbeaten streak and edge closer to securing their Premier League safety, Forest manager Vitor Pereira has shared his thoughts on the upcoming match and the challenges that lie ahead.
Vitor Pereira said: “They play lunchtime or dinner time? Because if they play lunchtime, if I watch the game maybe I won’t have a good lunch! It’s better to not watch; indigestion maybe. It’s better not to see. And the dinner is the same. When my assistant coaches speak to me about the other teams, I say to them it’s enough for me to suffer for my team. I cannot suffer about the results of the other teams, I refuse. I prefer to have a good lunch. I prefer to have a good dinner. In the end, I will see the result but it’s something that I cannot control. We can just control what we do and what we put on the pitch when we play our games. To control our position, we need to put everything there and believe that we can get the points.”
Vitor Pereira continued: “I think this season it will be a special season in terms of points to avoid relegation. It is better to get points every game. It is better to try to win every game, not to wait for the other results. I respect a lot the club and Chelsea have a top team. But this is about us. This is about preparing for the game with our tools and with our qualities. Of course, we will analyse them (Chelsea), but we will prepare for the game with the tactical qualities we are working from and have been working from since the first day. When we win games in the Europa League, when the players return after their day off I will see them with a smile. Maybe they will be tired, but with a smile and good energy. When we win, we recover faster.”
Pereira’s comments highlight his focus on Nottingham Forest’s performance rather than being overly concerned with the results of other teams. With Forest currently sitting on 39 points, the manager believes that surpassing the traditional 40-point safety mark may not be sufficient this season, indicating the need for a few more points to ensure survival.
The Forest boss also expressed respect for Chelsea, acknowledging their strength as a team. However, he emphasized the importance of focusing on his squad’s preparation and tactical approach. With Chelsea under the interim management of Calum McFarlane, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior, they remain somewhat unpredictable, adding another layer of complexity to the upcoming fixture.
As Nottingham Forest prepares for this crucial match, Pereira’s strategy revolves around maximizing his team’s potential and maintaining a positive mindset. With the stakes high, Forest will need to bring their best game to Stamford Bridge to secure the points necessary for Premier League survival.
