Arne Slot Manager
Liverpool is set to face Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday, but they will have to do so without several key players. Manager Arne Slot has provided updates on the injury status of some of his top stars, including Mohamed Salah, who will miss the match due to a minor injury. Despite the setback, Salah is expected to return before the end of the season, marking his final campaign with the club.
Arne Slot said: “He is always working incredibly hard when he is injured to get back as soon as possible. Usually, he is back earlier than other players. He has a minor injury, and we expect and need him back for the final part of the season, but not for Sunday [vs Man Utd].”
Slot also provided updates on other injured players, including Alisson Becker, Milos, and Wataru Endo. Alisson has not yet resumed training with the team but is close to returning. Slot mentioned that the medical staff would assess his condition to determine if he could train soon. Alisson’s potential return is slated for the match against Chelsea on May 9.
Arne Slot said: “Ali hasn’t trained with us yet. [He is] very close… I have to hear today from the medical staff if he is able to train today or tomorrow. Otherwise, the start of next week. He is very close, but of course, we don’t want to take any risks.”
Milos has experienced some niggles and left the training pitch earlier this week. However, Slot is optimistic about his return to training soon, with a potential return for the Manchester United clash on May 3.
Arne Slot said: “Milos has had some niggles, and left the training pitch on Wednesday. I expect him to train today or tomorrow.”
Wataru Endo is progressing in his rehabilitation, though he is not yet training with the team. His return is anticipated towards the end of the season, possibly for the match against Aston Villa on May 17.
Arne Slot said: “Endo is starting to go out, not with the team, but he is starting to do exercises outside with the rehab team. He will not be available next week or the week after. We are hoping for him to be back at the end of the season.”
Additionally, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are dealing with long-term injuries. Bradley is expected to return by November or December 2026, while Leoni is over seven months into his recovery from a ruptured ACL, with a potential return date set for late 2026.
Liverpool’s injury list presents a significant challenge for the team as they prepare for their crucial encounter with Manchester United. The absence of key players like Salah and Alisson could impact their performance, but the team remains hopeful for their swift recovery and return to action.
