Joao Pedro Watford
Chelsea are eagerly awaiting the fitness updates on Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League encounter against Chelsea. Both players missed the recent defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion due to muscle problems, with Joao Pedro having been absent for the last two matches.
McFarlane explained: “With Joao and Cole, they both trained today and are in a good place. We have another day tomorrow to have a look at them and then make a call on them. We hope [they can be involved], but it’s important we give them time. They’re going to train tomorrow and we’ll make a call after that.”
McFarlane continued: “We want to take control of the game. We want to play our game. We want to play the game that suits the players in our group the best. We want to be aggressive and attack the game.”
McFarlane added: “I have a really good relationship with the players. Our process will be the same as when I was an interim before. I’ll work the way I know how to work. Everyone’s on board and we’re ready for Sunday. Yeah, Leeds vs Chelsea is always a big game. There’s a rivalry there for various reasons. I haven’t spoken to anyone about what it’s like to lead a team out at Wembley. For me, it’s just a game of football. It’s 11 v 11 and you try and make it.”
Leeds United’s manager, McFarlane, remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, emphasizing the importance of taking control and playing to their strengths. The rivalry between Leeds and Chelsea adds an extra layer of intensity to the fixture, with Leeds having previously secured a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Elland Road in December.
Despite recent challenges, McFarlane expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to deliver strong performances against top sides. The belief within the team remains steadfast, bolstered by the presence of world-class talent in their ranks. As Leeds United gear up for this crucial match, all eyes will be on the final decision regarding the availability of Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer.
