Nottingham Forest has been dealt a severe blow with the news that Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury. The winger, who has been a crucial part of the team’s lineup, was seen limping off the pitch during the Europa League clash against Porto and was absent from the squad for the recent Premier League victory over Burnley.
Vitor Pereira said: “It is a serious injury. It was very bad news for us. He has been a regular in the starting XI amid the club’s survival battle and quest for European glory.”
The injury has left Forest to reassess their squad dynamics as they look to secure their Premier League status and continue their European campaign. Hudson-Odoi’s absence was felt as Omari Hutchinson and Dilane Bakwa took on the wide roles against Burnley, with Dan Ndoye as the only other natural winger available, although he did not feature in the match.
The Reds’ recent victory over Burnley has provided a much-needed cushion, moving them five points clear of the relegation zone with five games left in the season. However, the team now faces the challenge of maintaining this momentum without one of their key players. The upcoming fixtures include a crucial match against Sunderland and a Europa League semi-final against Aston Villa, both of which will test the squad’s depth and adaptability.
In addition to Hudson-Odoi’s injury, centre-back Murillo also faced a scare during the Porto match, although he managed to start against Burnley. However, he was again forced off before the half-time whistle.
Vitor Pereira said: “I don’t know. I spoke to him and he said he thinks it is not serious. I hope.”
The club is now preparing for the remainder of the campaign without Hudson-Odoi, as confirmed by reports from the Daily Mail. This injury marks a significant setback for Nottingham Forest, who are battling for survival in the Premier League while also eyeing European success.
