Leeds United have navigated their first season back in the Premier League with a commendable performance, currently sitting 15th in the standings. With six matches remaining, they are six points clear of the relegation zone. As the club looks ahead to the 2026/27 season, strengthening the squad during the summer transfer window is seen as crucial for further progress and stability in the top flight.
Daniel Farke said: “Recruitment is key. When you sign a player, you always want to bring someone in who’s going to improve you a little bit. [Karl] Darlow has done really well this season; he’s been brilliant, but I would bring in a good goalie and strengthen that area. I also think a strong number 10 would be a key signing, somebody who can run the game. Can we recruit as well as last year? Hopefully. I’d like to get three solid signings, preferably with Premier League experience, because we haven’t had a lot of that this season.”
Daniel Farke continued: “I want to see goals getting scored. I think we need an out-and-out goal scorer. Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] has been outstanding, but he’s more of a target man. I’d be looking for 15 to 20 goals from a striker at this level, and Dom might get there. But we probably need another who can get 10-15. Then you go 8th, then you get yourself into Europe, and there’s nothing like playing in Europe, and there’s nothing like doing so at Elland Road. I’ve witnessed it, but imagine it with 25,000 more on top. I’m not getting ahead of myself, but you’ve got to be thinking, we’re in the Premier League, can we nip into Europe? [Aston] Villa are in Europe this year, [Crystal] Palace won the FA Cup, and are in Europe. We can achieve that. Stabilise for a year or two, and work on getting Leeds where I think they belong.”
Leeds United’s manager, Daniel Farke, has outlined a clear vision for the club’s future. He emphasizes the importance of strategic recruitment, particularly focusing on strengthening the goalkeeping position and adding a dynamic number 10 to orchestrate play. Farke also highlights the need for a prolific goal scorer to propel the team further up the league table.
The ambition to compete in European competitions is a driving force behind Leeds’ recruitment strategy. Farke draws inspiration from fellow Premier League clubs like Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, who have achieved European football. He envisions Leeds United stabilizing in the Premier League and making a push for European qualification, which would be a significant milestone for the club and its passionate fanbase at Elland Road.
