Mikel Arteta Arsenal
Arsenal is gearing up for a pivotal Premier League encounter against Manchester City, with the title race intensifying. The Gunners, currently leading the Cityzens by six points, are keen to recover from their recent 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth. However, manager Mikel Arteta faces significant injury concerns that could impact his squad selection for the upcoming match.
Mikel Arteta said: “Well, we have another training session tomorrow so he didn’t look that bad after the game and he was quite positive.”
Noni Madueke, who was substituted during the Champions League semi-final against Sporting CP due to a knee issue, remains a doubt. Despite this, Arteta expressed optimism about the winger’s potential availability for the weekend fixture, indicating that Madueke could still play a role if needed.
Mikel Arteta said: “Bukayo is out. That is for sure. Hopefully, he recovers very soon because he is a tremendous player. He is starting to do some stuff, let’s see how quickly he can be with us.”
Bukayo Saka, another key player, will not feature in the clash against Manchester City as he continues to recover from an Achilles injury. Arteta confirmed Saka’s absence and expressed hope for a swift recovery, acknowledging the player’s importance to the team.
Mikel Arteta added: “We’ll have a solution, so whatever happens. We are so used to this decision, unfortunately, for various reasons, so whatever happens, we’ll have the right solution then.”
The manager also addressed potential issues on the right-hand side should Madueke also be unavailable, assuring fans that the team will find an effective solution regardless of the circumstances.
Mikel Arteta simply replied: “Out again.”
Mikel Merino remains sidelined as he continues his rehabilitation from a bone stress fracture in his foot. His return date is currently unknown, adding to the team’s injury woes.
Mikel Arteta explained: “Yeah, we will try again. Some players are quite close but the turnaround is short so we will try tomorrow to push everybody and if they are in good condition they will be part of us and if not they won’t. They haven’t been there in the last few weeks unfortunately.”
In addition to these concerns, Martin Odegaard, Riccardo Calafiori, and Jurrien Timber have been absent in recent weeks. Arteta remains hopeful about their availability for the upcoming match, though their participation will depend on their fitness assessments closer to the game.
As Arsenal prepares to face Manchester City, the team will need to navigate these injury challenges to maintain their lead in the title race. The match is set to take place on Sunday, April 19, and fans worldwide will be watching closely to see how the Gunners respond to their recent setback.
