Justin Kluivert
Justin Kluivert is on the road to recovery following knee surgery, with promising updates indicating a swift return to action. The forward has been training outdoors and is eager to rejoin his team and impress national coach Ronald Koeman ahead of the World Cup.
Justin Kluivert said: “I received the good news that it is healing very well. They are very satisfied with what they see. They don’t see that often with an injury like this. I have been training outdoors alone for a little over two weeks now. That will certainly continue for another two weeks. We need to move up the ranks, and then it’s back to the team. Then you just need to have a good month of May and show [Ronald] Koeman that you are ready. I sent him a message myself with an update after the good news.”
Andoni Iraola said: “He’s on the time margins that we expected. Everything is going fine, but he’s on a rush because he wants to play before the season ends. He also wants to keep his options for the World Cup alive, and he’s doing really well, but we cannot make stupid things also. We have to give the time that the injury needs. And I hope he can play before the season ends, but he’s there. It’s not going to be easy. He will have to progress as well as he is doing, because he’s doing very well.”
Kluivert’s diligent recovery efforts have been met with optimism from both medical staff and his coach, Andoni Iraola. The forward has been training independently outdoors for over two weeks and is expected to continue this regime for another fortnight. The goal is to gradually reintegrate him into full team training, ensuring he is match-ready by May. This timeline aligns with Kluivert’s aspirations to demonstrate his fitness to Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman, potentially securing a spot in the national squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Despite the positive developments, Iraola emphasized the importance of patience, noting that while Kluivert is eager to return, the recovery process should not be rushed. The team is keen to balance his enthusiasm with the necessary caution to avoid any setbacks. With the season drawing to a close, both Kluivert and the club remain hopeful for his return to competitive play, which would not only bolster his club’s efforts but also keep his international ambitions alive.
