Liam Rosenior, Chelsea’s manager, has received a vote of confidence from his squad as they approach the crucial end-of-season run-in. Despite recent criticism and setbacks, including exiting the UEFA Champions League and lagging in the Premier League top-four race, the Chelsea players have rallied behind Rosenior. The 22-year-old defender, Malo Gusto, who has been a key player under Rosenior, expressed his support for the manager during an interview with ESPN while on international duty with France.
Malo Gusto said: “I think he [Rosenior] is a top coach, I saw that a lot of people criticised him. Not really [understanding why he is being criticised so much], I have worked with him a lot since he joined Chelsea.”
Malo Gusto added: “He is a lot of things for the future, but if he is the Chelsea manager, it is because he has the talent for this. As I said before, for us as a team, we have to believe in him, believe in the way we play, to stick to our plan and see how it goes. He is a good person, he is really honest, really simple, you can see that he is really passionate. He wants to share it with us his passion for football and I feel like I want to play for him, I want to show my best when he puts me on the pitch.”
Gusto, who has been instrumental since Rosenior’s appointment, initially secured his place in the starting lineup during Enzo Maresca’s tenure. The transition has been challenging for the team, especially with the need to adapt to new systems and strategies. However, Gusto emphasized the importance of trusting the process and maintaining faith in Rosenior’s vision.
Chelsea’s current struggles have been attributed to the team’s relative inexperience and the challenges of adapting to a new managerial approach. Despite these hurdles, Gusto remains optimistic about the team’s potential and Rosenior’s leadership. The defender’s endorsement highlights the internal belief in Rosenior’s capabilities and the collective determination to restore Chelsea to its rightful place in the Premier League hierarchy.
The support from key players like Gusto is crucial for Rosenior as he navigates the pressures of managing a top-tier club like Chelsea. As the season progresses, the team’s ability to adapt and execute Rosenior’s strategies will be pivotal in determining their success in the remaining fixtures.
