Bournemouth is gearing up for a crucial cup final this weekend, aiming to overturn their recent 2-1 league defeat against Argyle. Despite the setback, the team’s spirits remain high, with a strong belief in their performance and a determination to succeed in the upcoming match.
Jessica Hennessy said: “Naturally after the game we were disappointed, but we were more disappointed with the result, not the performance. But since being in yesterday, we had a good training session, a lot of fun, and it was good to get us all in around each other, because we’re all feeling the same feelings, like we’re disappointed, but we’re raring to go on Saturday again. We just have to stick together and just do what Blez says really, and we back Blez and management.”
Jessica Hennessy added: “But at the same time, it’s an unbelievable atmosphere in the final and girls in the team as well, Phoebe [Williams] has played and won it twice. For those younger girls that probably haven’t been in high-pressurised situations like finals or tough games like that, we’ll get all around them and keep building them up and just get their confidence up after Sunday, even though I don’t think we’re lacking in confidence after that game because it was a really good game and we played really well. I think the morale of the group is still really good and we’re being positive about the whole thing. It’s only like one game. It’s not the end of the world. And I think on Sunday, we were very evenly matched throughout the pitch. So I just think some things just didn’t work for us, the ball didn’t bounce right for us in certain situations and things happened that would never really happen to us. We’re just excited to put it right on Saturday.”
Hennessy, who experienced cup success with Nottingham Forest last season, emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive atmosphere and supporting younger teammates who may not have faced high-pressure situations like finals before. The team is focused on building confidence and morale, ensuring they are well-prepared for the final. Despite the recent loss, Bournemouth’s performance was commendable, and they are eager to demonstrate their capabilities at Loftus Road. Tickets for the final can be purchased on the QPR website.
