Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish, who joined Everton on loan from Manchester City during the summer, has faced a challenging season due to a stress fracture in his foot, which required surgery in January. Despite his promising start, contributing two goals and six assists, Grealish is unlikely to feature again for Everton this season. In his absence, Harrison Armstrong has stepped up, adapting to a new role on the wing, although his natural position is central midfield. Armstrong has expressed his admiration for Grealish, viewing him as a valuable mentor.
Harrison Armstrong said: “Jack is an unbelievable player and just a good person – someone I can learn a lot from. Playing out wide has given me certain lessons to help me for the future, for when I maybe go back into midfield – learning what those players working next to me need.”
Harrison Armstrong added: “I’m like a sponge around him. We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to push on as a team. That’s what we want and what the club needs, but as a group we know we just need to take one game at a time. There are some really good teams and if you overlook someone, you will get punished, so we’re focused on each game and we hope it can take us as high up the table as possible.”
Harrison Armstrong further commented on the club’s future: “It’s a new era for the club. There’s pressure on us to perform there, as there should be. It was never going to be an easy thing to move from Goodison because of how iconic it was, but the new stadium is incredible. We got a good result against Burnley last time out and I know it’s going to be a really special place for us as we look to the future.”
Armstrong’s versatility and willingness to adapt have been crucial for Everton during this transitional period. The club’s manager has shown confidence in Armstrong, choosing to retain him in January after his loan recall from Preston North End. With only nine games remaining in the season, Everton aims to secure European football, but their home form needs improvement, having only won five league games at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The move from the iconic Goodison Park to the new stadium has been significant, and Armstrong acknowledges the pressure to perform in their new home.
As Everton looks to climb the Premier League table, the team remains focused on taking each game as it comes. Armstrong’s development and adaptability could prove vital in the club’s quest for success, especially in the absence of Grealish. The new era at Everton presents both challenges and opportunities, with the potential for a bright future at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
