Morgan Gibbs White
Morgan Gibbs-White delivered a crucial performance for Nottingham Forest, scoring his second goal in as many games to secure a draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. His 25-yard curler not only equalized Antoine Semenyo’s opener but also marked his first goal since November. This performance could be pivotal for Forest as they strive to avoid relegation, showcasing their potential to compete against top-tier teams despite their struggles in front of goal this season.
Gibbs-White said: “What a player he is, by the way. What a player he is. He deserves all the credit he is getting because he is a hell of a player. He is an incredible talent. When the ball is at his feet, anything can happen. He is so good defensively and so good going forward. I said to him: ‘It’s about time you scored another goal this season, I’ve been waiting for ya!’”
Gibbs-White added: “The second goal shows we can play good football. We had a good build-up down the right-hand side, switched it into the middle, a good one-two and an incredible finish.”
Gibbs-White continued: “Oh wow, I think that’s just a bit of hope and instinct kicks in. For me, for the way I like to play football, that’s more impressive (than the goal against Brighton and Hove Albion last Sunday). The Brighton one, I just smacked it – I just hit it and hoped!”
Anderson said: “I was just trying to catch the play up, to be honest, and he (Gibbs-White) has dug it out. It was a great finish and it got the belief going for the team. It’s massive. We’ve dug out a point from being behind and we’re really happy. It just keeps us pushing. We’ve got such a team spirit and it’s just unfortunate we haven’t had the results. I couldn’t fault the effort of the lads, to be honest. We fought really hard.”
Gibbs-White’s goal was a demonstration of his skill and composure under pressure, providing a much-needed boost to Forest’s morale. The team has faced challenges in scoring this season, but their performance against Manchester City highlighted their ability to compete at a high level. Anderson’s comments reflect the team’s resilience and determination to fight for every point as they aim to climb out of the relegation zone. With a few days off after a demanding schedule, Nottingham Forest will be looking to build on this momentum in their upcoming fixtures.
