David Moyes
Everton’s goalkeeper showcased his exceptional skills in a thrilling Premier League encounter against Newcastle United, making a save that has been hailed as one of the best of his career. The save was pivotal in securing Everton’s fourth away win in their last six unbeaten games, allowing them to open up a four-point lead over their opponents in the race for European football.
The centre-back said: “The best save I’ve ever seen, I don’t know how he’s pulled it off. We know how much of a top goalkeeper he is.”
He added: “I’ve got to say that’s one of the best saves I’ve seen live. I thought it was outstanding. I think when you put it in context of the timing of the game and what it meant, obviously a frustrating one for us.”
Blues boss David Moyes was also impressed. He said: “I was laughing. I was going to run on the pitch and celebrate a save again. Sandro Tonali couldn’t have hit that any better, it was technically brilliant but the save was out of this world.”
The Everton goalkeeper’s heroics were instrumental in maintaining the team’s impressive away form this season. The victory against Newcastle United not only extended their unbeaten run but also bolstered their chances of securing European football next season. The team now turns its attention to improving their home form, as they prepare to host relegation-threatened Burnley at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Branthwaite said: “Our away form has been top class all season and the home form is something that we need to get better at. The last showing at home against Manchester United (when they undeservedly lost 1-0) was a step in the right direction so hopefully we can build on that. We’ve been there all season and the home form needs to change.”
With their away performances setting a high standard, Everton aims to translate this success to their home games, starting with the upcoming match against Burnley. The team is determined to end their winless run at home and continue their push for a strong finish in the league.
