Leeds United have been dealt a significant setback with forward Noah Okafor sidelined for up to a month due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Birmingham City, and manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that Okafor will miss upcoming key fixtures, including matches against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Daniel Farke said: “Yes, sadly, Noah Okafor has suffered an injury in the last cup game, a hamstring injury. He will be out for between two and four weeks. It is a bit too early to judge but he will definitely miss the next two games, so definitely the Villa game and also the Man City game. Apart from this, just good news. Anton Stach back in training, available. Pascal Struijk back in training, available. And also Daniel James is back. Hopefully he stays also fit right now but it looks good. All three are back in training. We are in the top two in terms of physical output for every game in the Premier League. We always have to invest more or try to invest more than the opponent and have to go over the line. And there are also sometimes a knock or sometimes even whatever stretch of a muscle and you have to deal with it. So overall, we are in a more or less really good position. So from the first team players at the moment, just now Okafor is out. And at this stage, February, the pitches are tough. A long season already in. So it is overall not too bad.”
The absence of Okafor presents a challenge for Leeds as they navigate a demanding fixture schedule. Despite this setback, Farke remains optimistic, highlighting the return of key players Anton Stach, Pascal Struijk, and Daniel James to training. Their availability is expected to bolster the team’s options and maintain their high physical output, which Farke noted as being among the top two in the Premier League.
Leeds’ ability to adapt to these changes will be crucial as they aim to sustain their performance levels. The manager acknowledged the difficulties posed by the long season and the challenging pitch conditions in February, but he remains confident in the team’s resilience and depth. With Okafor’s injury being the only major concern, Leeds will look to continue their strong form and maintain their competitive edge in the league.
