Stephen Jones, a 33-year-old father from Bootle, tragically passed away following a car accident on December 24th. The incident occurred when the Ford Puma he was driving collided with a grey Audi A4 at the junction of East Lancashire Road and Stonebridge Lane. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Stephen succumbed to his injuries on January 3rd. His partner and young son, who were also in the car, sustained serious and minor injuries, respectively.
Wayne McPartland said: “Ste was funny, kind, fun-loving. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen Jones has asked us to announce his passing and funeral arrangements. Ste Jones, 33, was described as ‘funny and caring’ by one of his close friends.”
The family of Ste said: “Stephen was a loving son, brother, partner, uncle but most importantly a dad, a role that meant the world to him. A friend and a lifelong Everton supporter who was filled to his core with a passion to help people. His love for coaching children’s grassroots football meant he made a difference in so many lives. Stephen’s death will leave a void for many people that won’t ever be filled. He will be missed deeply but loved forever and always in our hearts.”
Stephen’s funeral service is scheduled to take place at Anfield Crematorium on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, at 12:40 pm. The family has requested that flowers be limited to family only, with donations encouraged to Bootle Bucks Inclusion FC. A donation box will be available at the service. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to join the family at The Blue Base in Liverpool to celebrate Stephen’s life.
Stephen Jones was a beloved member of the community, known for his dedication to grassroots football and his unwavering support for Everton FC. His contributions to coaching and his genuine care for the children he worked with left a lasting impact. Described as “Mr. Grassroots,” Stephen was admired for his ability to make every player feel valued and confident. His untimely death has left a significant void in the lives of his family, friends, and the local community.
