Nottingham Forest is set to face Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday in a significant Premier League encounter, with both teams level on points and six points clear of the relegation zone. Forest, currently on a four-match unbeaten streak, will be looking to extend their run after a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace. However, manager Sean Dyche faces several injury concerns ahead of the fixture.
Sean Dyche said: “He is still a bit sore. We are waiting over the next 48 hours, pre-game, to get some more advice on it. We will take an opinion over the next couple of days before we know more about the length of it (any absence). We have got a chance of (Sels playing), so we will see how it settles.”
Dyche added: “Callum has got a knock on his shoulder. He landed on it awkwardly. We have had it checked and there’s nothing too serious but it is a painful one. We will have to make a decision on that in the next 36 hours in preparation for the game. We will know more about that.”
On Nicolo Savona, Dyche stated: “He is in the awkward period of deciding what to do. It is a knee issue; nothing overly serious but it needs managing. They are letting it settle down under the guidance of the specialist. They said it is a seven to 10-day window to let it naturally settle; we will be at the end of that after this weekend. We will then know what to do next.”
The Reds are dealing with injury doubts over key players, including Sels and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Sels is still sore, and the team is awaiting further advice on his condition, while Hudson-Odoi’s shoulder injury is being monitored closely. Both players’ availability will be reassessed in the coming days. Additionally, long-term absentee Chris Wood remains sidelined due to a knee injury, and full-back Nicolo Savona is also out as he manages a knee issue.
Dyche faces a decision regarding who will start at full-back in the absence of Savona. Recent signing Luca Netz, who joined from Borussia Monchengladbach on a four-and-a-half-year deal, could potentially make his debut. Netz has only recently begun training with the team, and Dyche remains undecided on whether he will start against Leeds.
The match at Elland Road presents a crucial opportunity for Forest to solidify their position in the league standings. With injury concerns looming, Dyche’s decisions in the coming days will be pivotal for the team’s performance on Friday.
