Arsenal Stadium London

Inconveniences await Manchester United supporters planning to travel to the Emirates Stadium for the highly anticipated clash against Arsenal on Sunday. Due to planned engineering works in the Milton Keynes area, there will be no direct train services available from Manchester to London. As a result, fans will have to rely on rail replacement buses, significantly extending their journey time.
Manchester United matchday account said on X: “Supporters travelling to Emirates Stadium on Sunday 25 January, please be aware there are no direct trains from Manchester to London on Sunday due to planned engineering works in the Milton Keynes area. Rail replacement buses are in operation between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central.”
The quickest available journey via rail is expected to take almost three-and-a-half hours, with several alternative options extending to over four or five hours. This logistical challenge comes as Manchester United prepares for a crucial away fixture under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Michael Carrick. The match marks Carrick’s first away trip since taking charge, following a thrilling derby victory against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Despite the challenges posed by travel disruptions, Carrick remains focused on maintaining the momentum gained from the recent win. The team will face a formidable opponent in Arsenal, who have been unbeaten at their north London home, winning nine of their 11 Premier League matches as hosts.
Michael Carrick said: “That’s the challenge ultimately and I think it needs to be a version of normal. Listen, we’re not going to have games with the emotion and feeling and everything that today brought. I think we all understand that. But there’s definitely levels of standards and expectations that we need to live up to from ourselves as much as anyone on the outside. I’m totally aware of that. Consistency is the key to any success and if you can find that, then you’re on to a winner, so that’s our challenge. You’ve got to find a way of doing that. Big one next week [against Arsenal], obviously another tough one. But on the back of today, we’ve got a good foundation to build on.”
Carrick’s squad may face additional challenges with the potential absence of key players Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt due to injuries. Zirkzee was forced out of the Manchester derby with a knock, while de Ligt continues to recover from a back injury. These injuries add to the complexity of the task ahead for Carrick, who is determined to instill consistency and resilience in his team as they navigate a challenging fixture schedule.
