Amario Cozier-Duberry
Bolton Wanderers celebrated a commanding 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon, with on-loan winger Amario Cozier-Duberry playing a pivotal role. Known for his admiration of Arjen Robben and his signature move of cutting in from the right to shoot with his left foot, Cozier-Duberry has been encouraged by Bolton manager Steven Schumacher to diversify his attacking approach.
Steven Schumacher said: “We asked them not to keep turning back on to the strong foot, because both of them (Cozier-Duberry and Thierry Gale) are really good on the weak foot. Amario had a great shot on his right foot, and the keeper made a good save. I’m pleased for Amario to get another goal and keep him going.”
Cozier-Duberry’s precise left-footed shot from a wide angle helped Bolton secure a 2-0 lead, reminiscent of his earlier performances, including a pre-season goal against Kashima Antlers. His ability to cut inside and find the net has been a consistent feature, as seen in his goals against Hibernian and Sheffield Wednesday.
Cozier-Duberry told The Argus: “One of my favourite players is Arjen Robben. Cutting in and finding that left corner? Definitely! It is one of my trademarks.”
Despite his successful start at Blackburn, Cozier-Duberry’s loan spell there dwindled, attributed to a managerial change at Ewood Park. Schumacher has highlighted the need for Cozier-Duberry to enhance his end product, emphasizing composure in critical moments.
Schumacher said: “He gets to some brilliant areas and then the real top players are calm, they are cold in those heated moments.”
Cozier-Duberry, who has played every minute of Bolton’s first six league games, was substituted in the 78th minute against Wimbledon, with the game already decided. Schumacher expressed the intention to conserve the winger’s energy for future fixtures.
The young winger’s journey at Bolton is being closely monitored, with Schumacher keen on ensuring that Cozier-Duberry continues to develop and refine his skills, potentially making him a more versatile and unpredictable threat on the field.
