Liverpool Set to Sign Jeremie Frimpong as Trent Alexander-Arnold Replacement

Arne Slot Manager

Liverpool is reportedly making swift moves to secure a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season. The Premier League champions are not only celebrating their success off the pitch but are also actively working to defend their title by strengthening their squad. Among their targets is Jeremie Frimpong, with Liverpool agreeing to a deal to bring the Bayer Leverkusen right-back to Anfield.

Arne Slot said: “Agreement done for Dutch RB, Bayer Leverkusen are informed on €35m release clause set to be triggered. Frimpong will sign a five-year deal with medical now being scheduled, personal terms are 100% agreed.”

Frimpong’s move to Liverpool marks a significant step in the club’s efforts to bolster their defensive options. The Dutch right-back was an unused substitute in Leverkusen’s final game of the season against Mainz, signaling his imminent departure. Meanwhile, Liverpool has also secured Conor Bradley on a new four-year contract, adding depth to their right-back position.

Arne Slot continued: “It’s going to be a boring answer. The whole season it was about the contract extensions of three players and now it’s about which players we are going to bring in. The answer is the same. We don’t talk about players we want to bring in in public until the moment they sign. What I can tell you is we already have Conor Bradley who can play really good in that position, Joe Gomez has played there multiple times. It’s not like Trent is leaving and I have no clue what to do anymore. But in general, we are always looking at interesting players who can strengthen our squad.”

Liverpool’s proactive approach in the transfer market highlights their determination to maintain their competitive edge. The acquisition of Frimpong is expected to provide a seamless transition in the right-back role, ensuring that the team remains strong defensively. With personal terms agreed and a medical scheduled, Frimpong’s signing is poised to be a crucial addition to Liverpool’s squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.
