Alejandro Garnacho Dismisses Transfer Rumors Commits to Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho

Alejandro Garnacho, the young Manchester United talent, has been at the center of transfer speculation during the winter months, particularly after Ruben Amorim’s appointment as manager. Chelsea was reportedly leading the race for his signature, with Napoli’s £40 million bid also being rejected. However, Garnacho has now expressed his contentment at Manchester United, putting an end to the swirling rumors.

Alejandro Garnacho said: “As a footballer, you are always going to listen and hear some rumours about the future. But I have a contract here until 2028 so I’m happy here.”

Garnacho’s statement came during his first-ever press conference with the English media, where he addressed the challenges he faced adapting to Amorim’s tactical changes. The 20-year-old revealed that he experienced a difficult period in November and December, including being dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby against City.

He continued: “Obviously, the manager knows the characteristics of the players. What we try to do depends on the players we have and we are improving as a team also. It’s a little bit hard but it’s just the mentality. My first two months, November and December were very difficult for me but my mentality is to keep working, to keep trying and show to the manager and staff I have to play.”

Ruben Amorim, sitting alongside Garnacho, emphasized the club’s intention to retain its top talents, including Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

Ruben Amorim stated: “It’s normal a lot of clubs want a player like Bruno [Fernandes], like Garnacho, but we want to keep the best players and Bruno is clearly one of the top players in the world. Our idea didn’t change, we want Bruno here.”

Garnacho’s commitment to Manchester United is a significant boost for the club as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for top honors. His adaptation to Amorim’s style and tactics will be crucial as United aims to improve their performances. The young forward’s decision to stay reflects his belief in the club’s project and his desire to develop further under Amorim’s guidance.
