Matty has had an incredible season, he’s a young man, and I felt his energy… I felt we needed some different energy. Maybe it’s my naivety that I’m surprised at such a strong reaction towards it, but there’s a justified rationale behind it and I’d do the same thing again.”
Rusk added: “Of course, it hurts. It’s difficult. We’re relegated with seven games to go not easy, you know and playing against top opposition. I will stand by the players and we will dust ourselves down and prepare for going into the game next week as best we can but it’s not a straightforward situation. We were in a difficult spot today and I fully understand their frustration at the end. But at the end of the day, we’re not good enough. We’re finding it hard.”
