Petr Cech, former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper, has revealed that Chelsea had previously scouted new Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky during his time at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old Kinsky, who made quite the name for himself in his homeland of the Czech Republic with Slavia Prague, signed with Tottenham last Sunday. He made his Tottenham debut in Wednesday evening’s 1-0 Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Liverpool, impressing with his performance.
Petr Cech said “I remember the moment when Antonin Kinsky was still playing for the national team Under-16s. A game when we watched him and when we scouted him for our own club, so of course you want to see other goalies in all age groups as well.”
Cech also emphasized the importance of Kinsky making his own way, mentioning that Radek Cerny had already made a good impression at Tottenham.
Petr Cech said “But I think it’s important that he makes his own way. Radek Cerny already made a good impression at Tottenham.”
Cech, who came up against Tottenham numerous times during his Premier League career with both Chelsea and Arsenal, acknowledged that Kinsky has the opportunity to use top-class facilities day in, day out. Although he never played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he knows the value of the facilities.
Petr Cech admitted “I always went there just for the game at the stadium and we always won and went back home (smiling). So it was always nice and all that.”
