Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the midfielder who joined Chelsea in a £30million move from Leicester City last summer, has been the subject of speculation regarding his future at Stamford Bridge. Dewsbury-Hall, who signed a five-year deal with the Blues, reunited with his former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca in west London. With the January transfer window open, there was increased speculation over his long-term future at the club. Dewsbury-Hall recently posted an update on social media.
Enzo Maresca, the former Foxes boss, spoke about the situation in December.
Enzo Maresca said “Unfortunately, I cannot say that, not about Kiernan, about all the squad, because when the transfer window is open, unfortunately, anything can happen. So I’m not focused on January, the only thing I can say about Kiernan is that we are very happy in the way he’s working, we are very happy about his performance, and this is my thought about Kiernan.”
Maresca further elaborated on the club’s stance on player departures.
Enzo Maresca said “We don’t want one of our players to leave, the problem is that sometimes the question is more for them, that if they say, ‘OK, you don’t want me to leave, but I’m not happy, I want to play more’. So in that case, we are not going to say, ‘No, you have to stay, yes or yes’.”
West Ham United was understood to be one of the multiple clubs with an interest in Dewsbury-Hall, who could potentially leave the Blues on loan.
