Morgan Rogers nails what was ‘massive’ about Aston Villa’s win at Fulham

Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers expressed optimism following Aston Villa’s compelling 3-1 victory over Fulham, which he hopes will initiate a strong series of results for the club. Villa is facing a busy schedule, playing six more matches over 18 days leading up to the November international break. Despite an early goal by Fulham’s Raul Jimenez in the fifth minute, Villa made a comeback. Rogers equalized with a deflected shot, and soon after, their goalkeeper Emi Martinez saved a crucial penalty from Andreas Pereira following a handball by Matty Cash. Ollie Watkins gave Villa the lead at the 60-minute mark. Fulham’s Joachim Anderson received a red card, and an own goal by Issa Diop secured Villa’s victory. The match saw impressive performances, earning high player ratings from John Townley. Post-match, Unai Emery highlighted a particularly satisfying aspect of Villa’s performance.

Morgan Rogers said, “They scored in the first five minutes, but we knuckled down after that and we dominated pretty much most of the game. We should have scored a few more, but in the second half we put our foot on the gas and we deserved the win. It was massive to respond how we did so quickly. It helped settle the nerves and we were generally playing well and to get it so quick did help. After the international break you start fresh with a clean slate and to get the win is massive. We have an important week and it’s just the start of it. That’s why he’s the best. That’s what he does.”
