Arsenal’s Paul Merson warned his teammates that they must improve ahead of their clash against Manchester United later that week or they will get punished big time after the Gunners had to make a comeback in their UEFA Cup clash against OB Odense. Merson was the man of the match but he admitted that his team was lucky to get away with the result that they did.
Paul Merson said “If we start like that against United we will get punished. We were lucky to get away with them missing a penalty and we could have lost two or three goals after that. The lads showed a lot of character to come back like we did, but we shouldn’t have needed to.”
