Context: Injury Concern for Andy Robertson in Liverpool’s Win Over Wolves

Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with goals from Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah taking the Reds to the top of the Premier League. However, there was concern towards the end of the game when left-back Andy Robertson was forced off with an apparent heel injury after a tangle with Wolves’ substitute Carlos Forbs. Joe Gomez came on to replace Robertson in the closing stages.

Arne Slot on Robertson’s Injury:

Despite the worry, Liverpool manager Arne Slot played down the severity of the injury.

Slot: “I think he just got a knock in the end stage of the game, maybe he was a bit tired as well. He got a bit of a knock but I’m expecting him to be in training Monday again, but let’s wait.”

Context: Liverpool’s Performance Against Wolves

Liverpool faced a tough start in the game, with Wolves pressing aggressively and causing problems on Liverpool’s right side. Wolves equalized through Rayan Ait-Nouri after Konate’s opener, but Liverpool regained the lead with a Mohamed Salah penalty after Diogo Jota was fouled in the box. Slot acknowledged Wolves’ energetic start but felt that his team gradually took control of the game.

Slot on Liverpool’s Performance:

Slot: “The first 15 minutes were difficult for us. He [Robertson] overloaded our right side in a good manner which made it difficult for us to control the game in the first 15-20 minutes. When it calmed down a bit, the energy (from Wolves) went away and maybe I think we took more and more control of the game.”

Slot on Liverpool’s Goal and Control of the Game:

Slot: “For me, it wasn’t a surprise when we scored the goal because in those moments we were getting better and better, and we had a big chance in Dominik Szoboszlai. I was almost surprised when we conceded in the second half, because in the second half we had much more control than in the first half. We conceded a goal that was avoidable, let’s put it that way.”
