Daniele De Rossi revealed he was excited at the prospect of joining Manchester City to meet Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher . The Gallagher brothers are one of the most famous supporters of the reigning Premier League champions and have been present in the club’s recent success, both in domestic and European competitions. Their influence on City almost led to the club securing the services of one of the best Serie A midfielders, De Rossi. The news comes after Oasis confirmed on Tuesday they would tour around the UK and Ireland next year, 33 years after their first live performance. The announcement, made at 8am, marked their comeback after a 16-year wait, and De Rossi is expected to be in attendance, according to reports. De Rossi spoke about his favourite cities, movies and bands, picking Oasis as his top choice.
Daniele De Rossi said “They’re the band from my teenage years. I grew up listening to them and I know all their songs off by heart. I liked those guys, they were real characters. They weren’t always conventional or very easily approachable but I really liked the stereotype they represented – rock stars off their heads. There was a lot of talk about me moving to Manchester City a few years ago but I’ve never wanted to leave Rome. What excited me the most about that prospect, however, was the fact that I could have met the Gallagher brothers. He also previously revealed that one of his football idols is Manchester United legend Roy Keane . In my opinion, the legendary Manchester United captain needs no introduction. He’s my all-time idol. Besides Gaia (my daughter, who was born on the 16th), I [wore] 16 because of him. He’s the only person in the world I’ve asked for a photo, two years ago. I was too embarrassed with Maradona but I couldn’t resist with him.”
De Rossi is the current manager of AS Roma after succeeding Jose Mourinho . He guided the Italian side to sixth place in Serie A last season.
