Tommy Wright vowed to stay at Newcastle United and fight for his place
Newcastle United goalkeeper Tommy Wright, who was the target of Nottingham Forest revealed that he wanted to stay at Newcastle and fight for his place. Wright was the backup goalkeeper for Kevin Keegan’s side and admitted that he did not enjoy playing for the reserves side and said that even though he did not like it, he would stay at the club and fight to become the number one keeper.
Tommy Wright said “I want to stay at Newcastle. Ideally, I would stay here, have my place in the first team and be part of a successful side. There has been no direct contact from Nottingham Forest and I have read such news only in the papers. But I am under contract at United and its not a situation where I see myself asking for a move. Nobody wants to stay in reserve football for a long time but at this stage I want to stay at Newcastle and fight for my place.”
