Jetro Willems could continue red-hot form against Chelsea
We all know Magpies secured a vital win over Manchester United in game-week 8 but few know that Willems had a strong performance and major role to play in that. Willems was a part of Eintracht Frankfurt’s run to the Europa League semifinals last season where they lost to Chelsea on penalties. Newcastle United pulled off a coup in the summer signing Jetro Willems from Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt.
Willems’ addition was a move that flew under the radar yet his performances have been proof that Newcastle United’s scouting was spot on. After a tricky introduction during the opening weekend defeat against Arsenal, when there was a communication error between the player and Steve Bruce, as well as Willems being caught ball-watching for their winning goal, the Dutchman has been outstanding. The dutchman had scored one of the goals of the early part of the season against Liverpool at Anfield. The Dutch speedster is known for his creativity in the final third and could be invaluable for the Magpies in attack as the season wears on. He was instrumental in Matty Longstaff’s winner against Manchester United on Sunday, with him jinking around with the ball in the box, before laying it off perfectly for the Geordie youngster.
We know Chelsea has one of the most offensive play against teams especially in lower half but they also present a lot of chances and do not defend well in phases. It will be an excellent platform For Willems to show his worth to the club, manager and Geordie fans….
Why Burnley have a greater incentive to beat Leicester City
Burnley is well aware that upcoming saturday’s clash with Leicester City could prove to be vital in the race for European football better termed as “Best of the Rest”.
The two clubs have started the season in impressive form with the Foxes currently on course for a top four finish. With Manchester Untied placed 12th and Tottenham down in ninth, the fight for European football is currently wide open. The Foxes and Clarets both feel that strong start puts them in pole position to fill the gaps left by the Premier League’s under performing big boys. Both clubs are flying at the moment and had a common denominator as Liverpool. Both teams were unlucky to be defeated by Liverpool.
This season so far has been unique both top, middle and bottom as Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnely, Bournemouth and Leicester are all in the mix with just three points separating the five teams after eight games. Isn’t that something which makes Premier League unique and us fans on the edges. We hope to see a competitive game over the weekend between 2 clubs with potential to match former giant’s.
Why Frank Lampard’s Tenure at Chelsea Has Been ‘a Bit Weird’
Chelsea winger Willian has given an insight into life at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of former player Frank Lampard as head coach, revealing ‘it’s been a bit weird’ playing under his former teammate.
In an interview with Chelsea’s social media team in an interview posted on the side’s official website, Willian said of Lampard: “He was an intelligent player, one of the best in his position. A quality player. When you see players like him, you can say maybe in the future he can become a manager, and he’s here with us! It’s a bit weird he is my boss now, but I am very happy to work with him again. He has given me the confidence to play. He wants me to be happy. I have to dedicate a large part of my performances to him. He always says to me, ‘I want you to be happy’. That’s why I have been playing like I have been. I don’t have to stay on the right side. I can move around, I can move between the lines, I can move to the left side as well. I feel good playing in this way and that’s why I have been playing better and better. I hope to continue like this.”
Willian has featured in seven of the Blues’ eight Premier League games this term, having found both form and favour with Lampard. One area where Chelsea have been better than red half of Manchester is recruiting right attitude and hard working players into their squad. Willian has been an excellent contributor to the club and premier league fans wish him best..
Too much over reliance on one player could cost Arsenal dearly
So far this season Aubameyang has saved Arsenal on numerous occasions, he scored the winners against Newcastle, Burnley and Aston Villa, the equaliser against Tottenham and Man Utd and both goals in the draw with Watford. That is 12 points that the Gabon international has been directly involved in. How many points Arsenal would have attained without him is anyone’s guess.
When teams rely on a single player, it usually ends up costing them in the long run. As Tottenham would witness, Harry Kane got injured in previous season but thankfully Son and others stepped up and the England captain was hardly missed. When Man City lose Aguero they have consistent scorers in Sane, Sterling, Jesus and even Foden. Arsenal certainly does not have that sort of prolificacy in reserve. Oliver Giroud is gone and Lacazette is a top-class player but he is not a goalscorer in the mould of Aubameyang.
Gunners are currently finding the rub of green ( luck) and the boots of Aubameyang consistently hitting ball into the net. Premier League fans are lucky to witness attacking beauties playing in the league.
Where are Manchester United’s 6 youngest PL debutants ( unknown yet )
While most of the headlines of Manchester United is about doom and gloom, we want to continue to chasten the club with past glories and stories. Here we take a look at 6 players who have made their Manchester United debuts under the age of 18 in the Premier League era, starting from the oldest to the youngest.
Mads Timm – Timm was a promising youngster when he arrived at Old Trafford from Odense in 2000, making his senior debut two years later as a 17-year-old in a Champions League clash with Maccabi Haifa.Timm was released by United in 2006 and retired from professional football in 2009 aged just 24 citing a lack of motivation.
James Garner – Garner made his one and only senior appearance to date as a late substitute in a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace in February 2019. The midfielder has been compared to Michael Carrick, and Darren Fletcher recently told the BBC: “I’m surprised he’s not featured so far, but by the end of the season I’m sure that people will know who he is without a doubt, if you don’t by now.”
Chris Eagles – After joining from Watford in 2000, Eagles was on the books at United for eight years, making 17 appearances in all competitions while also being sent on loan four times. The midfielder has spent the last five years playing for seven different clubs, most recently joining Oldham after 15 months as a free agent.
Joshua King – Despite featuring just twice for United, King has remained in England to carve out a decent career in the Premier League with Bournemouth, scoring on his return to Old Trafford in March 2017 to secure a 1-1 draw.
Federico Macheda – Few young players have made quite the instant impact at United as Macheda, with his last-gasp winner against Aston Villa playing a major part in the Red Devils winning the title in 2008-09. The Italian never hit the same heights again and joined Panathinaikos in September 2018.
Ravel Morrison – He is probably the saddest case in all youngsters that played for Manchester United. Ferguson wrote in his 2015 book, Leading. “He possessed as much natural talent as any youngster we ever signed but kept getting into trouble. It was very painful to sell him…he could have been a fantastic player. But, over a period of years, the problems off the pitch continued to escalate and we had little option but to cut the cord.” After spells in Italy, Mexico and Sweden, Morrison is now back in England, and the Premier League, with Sheffield United, although he has only played 12 minutes of top-flight football in 2019-20 to date.
